The United Arab Emirates has strongly denounced the recent drone attack on its Consulate General in Iraqi Kurdistan, marking the second such assault within a week.
The incident left two security personnel injured and caused damage to the consulate building.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored that attacks on diplomatic missions and premises constitute a blatant breach of international norms and laws, particularly the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which ensures the inviolability of diplomatic entities and their staff.
The Ministry described the attack as a serious escalation posing a significant threat to regional peace and stability.
The UAE urged the governments of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the attack, identify those responsible, and take decisive measures to ensure accountability.
Reaffirming its unequivocal condemnation of such acts, the Ministry stressed that any attempts to undermine security and stability are categorically unacceptable. It reiterated the importance of safeguarding diplomatic missions, their premises, and personnel in adherence to international law and established conventions.
