Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, warned against negative traffic behaviours such as creating noise with vehicles and making illegal modifications to their engines, emphasising that these practices disturb the community, affect the sense of security and tranquility, and do not align with the civilised appearance which characterises the Emirate of Dubai.

Al Mazrouei explained that the noise caused by some vehicles due to engine changes, modifications to exhaust systems, or reckless driving causes disturbance and may be associated with dangerous traffic behaviours which threaten the safety of road users, noting that Dubai Police deal firmly with this phenomenon as part of its continuous efforts to maintain road safety and community security.

Al Mazrouei pointed out that traffic statistics since the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan indicate the impoundment of 251 vehicles and the recording of 524 traffic fines related to these behaviours, including 220 violations for driving a vehicle which causes noise, and 304 violations for making changes to the vehicle’s engine without a licence. The provisions of Local Decree No 30 of 2023 have been applied, which stipulate a fine of up to Dhs50,000 for releasing impounded vehicles whose drivers commit dangerous violations, in addition to referring the drivers to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions against them, Al Mazrouei stated.

Major General Al Mazrouei also affirmed that the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police is intensifying its field and supervisory campaigns to monitor and apprehend violating vehicles, stressing that making any modifications to a vehicle without obtaining official approvals is a clear violation which necessitates legal action, including impoundment and prescribed fines.

He called on drivers to adhere to traffic regulations and laws, and not to be swayed by reckless behaviours or illegal modifications which cause noise and disturb the community, noting that respecting traffic regulations reflects drivers’ awareness and social responsibility.

He also urged community members to cooperate with the competent authorities and report any negative traffic behaviours through official channels such as the “We Are All Police” service at 901 or through the “Police Eye” service in the Dubai Police application, which contributes to enhancing traffic safety and maintaining the security and comfort of the community.
