Fire doused at Abu Dhabi’s old airport after interception…

Abu Dhabi authorities have controlled a fire that broke out at Abu Dhabi’s old airport, following successful interception by air defence systems.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office said, “The competent authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi have managed to control a fire that broke out at Abu Dhabi International Airport as a result of debris falling following the successful interception by air defenses.

“No fatalities were reported as a result of the fire.”

“The public is reminded to obtain information from official sources only, and to avoid spreading rumours or unverified information.”

Earlier in the day, the United Arab Emirates said that its air defence systems were trying to intercept missiles and drones launched from Iran, after Tehran said it had fired a new salvo against US targets in the region.

“UAE air defences are currently responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran,” the UAE defence ministry said in a post on X, adding sounds of explosions were a result of the systems “intercepting missiles and drones.”
