“On International Women’s Day, we recognise the vital contribution women play in creating knowledge and shaping awareness. We affirm the importance of libraries as spaces that enable women to take an active role in cultural and intellectual life,” says Eman Bushulaibi, Director of Sharjah Public Libraries.

“True empowerment goes beyond providing opportunities; it means strengthening women’s capacity to produce knowledge, engage in community dialogue, and help shape visions that advance culture, identity and sustainable development.

“In the UAE, Emirati women set a leading example across cultural and knowledge sectors, supported by a national vision that places their empowerment at the centre of development. Sharjah Public Libraries is committed to providing an inclusive knowledge environment that opens avenues for creativity, research, reading and cultural leadership, through targeted programmes and initiatives that deepen participation and turn reading into a lasting social impact in building a knowledge-based society,” she adds.
