The General Department of Criminal Security and Ports of the Sharjah Police swiftly arrested two individuals accused of stealing merchandise valued at over $100,000 through fraudulent means. The stolen items, notably valuable amber prayer beads, were recovered in full within a day of the initial report.
The case unfolded when a Chinese national filed a complaint with a specialized police station, reporting the theft after having advertised his merchandise for sale on social media. An individual reached out, expressing interest in purchasing the entire lot. Upon agreeing to inspect the items, the two suspects managed to deceive the victim into visiting a location in the emirate, where they executed the theft and then escaped.
Brigadier Dr. Khalifa Balhai, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Sharjah Police, stated that specialized teams initiated search and investigation operations as soon as they received the report. They collected evidence, analyzed clues, and utilized modern security technologies for data analysis. He emphasized that the thorough investigations led to understanding the incident’s details, identifying the suspects, and precisely tracking their movements, which enabled pinpointing their location in a nearby emirate.
He further explained that with immediate coordination with the security services in the neighboring emirate, the specialized teams proceeded to the suspects’ location, successfully apprehending them and recovering all the stolen items within 24 hours.
Sharjah Police General Command asserted that the rapid resolution of the crime, along with the suspects’ arrest and recovery of stolen goods, demonstrates the competence and readiness of their security teams in addressing criminal reports. Their effective use of modern technologies and data analysis greatly supports investigative efforts.
The Command also advised community members to be cautious when engaging in buying and selling transactions with unknown individuals on social media platforms. They should verify identities and opt for secure, official websites to complete these transactions.
