Man assaults a woman in front of her kids on a road in Sh…

Sharjah Misdemeanor Court heard a case in which an Asian man was accused of endangering an Arab woman and her children after he verbally and physically assaulted her in the street, thinking she was his wife.

The victim stated that she was with her children on a Sharjah street when the accused began directing incomprehensible remarks at her.

His misconduct later escalated into violence, prompting her to flee and seek refuge in a nearby shop, she said, adding that the accused continued to pursue her even inside the shop, not only verbally abusing her but also grabbing her by the neck in front of her children, causing them fear and panic.

The victim confirmed that she did not know the accused and had no relationship with him, stating that she had never met him before and did not know the reason for the assault.

When confronted with the charges against him in court, the accused did not deny them, explaining that he mistook the woman for his wife due to their resemblance.

He claimed that marital disputes led him to assault her, believing her to be his wife, and asserted that he did not suffer from any illnesses.

Sharjah Misdemeanor Court decided to postpone the case to a later session to summon the victim and hear the testimonies of witnesses.
