Emirati child dies after being hit by car on his way to grocery

A 7-year-old Emirati child Jassim Mohammed Abdullah Ali Zaid Al Shehhi, died in a hit-and-run accident in Tunisia on Saturday afternoon while on summer vacation with his mother, tragically ending their trip and annual holiday.

The child passed away far from his father, who remained in the UAE for work before he was devastated by the loss of his beloved son in this tragic manner in the Manouba Governorate of Tunisia.

A pall of grief descended upon the family and Al Shuhuh tribe, to which the victim belonged, and the entire Ras Al Khaimah following the news of the accident and death.

The victim’s father, from Ghalila area, about 35 kilometres north of Ras Al Khaimah City, told Al Khaleej that his son died approximately an hour after arriving at the hospital after being hit by a car while he was on his way to a grocery, according to what he heard from his mother and others in the area.

Mohammed Al Shehhi indicated that his son’s body was scheduled to arrive at Dubai International Airport at 11pm today (Monday) and the funeral procession would take place at the Ghalilah cemetery tomorrow morning.
