Man told to pay medical centre Dhs50,000 for insults

Al Ain Court of Civil, Commercial and Administrative Cases ordered a man to pay Dhs50,000 in compensation to a medical centre, after he headed to the centre during official working hours and insulted the people there in front of a number of persons in a way that affected its reputation and dignity. He also disclosed secrets related to the centre’s financial position and its relationship with a financing company.

In the details, a medical centre filed a lawsuit against a man requesting a judgment obligating him to pay Dhs100,000 as compensation for the moral and material damages incurred as a result of his insults, while obligating him to pay fees, expenses, and attorney fees.

The centre stated in its lawsuit that the appellee went to the medical centre during official working hours and insulted it in the presence of several people, which harmed the centre’s dignity and affected its reputation and social standing, the plaintiff explained that following that incident, the Public Prosecution referred him to criminal trial on the charge of insult and disclosing secrets of the relationship between the centre and a financing company, as well as disclosing information related to the centre’s financial position in cases other than those permitted by law.

Accordingly, the criminal court convicted the appellee and punished him with a fine for the two charges and that ruling was upheld on appeal and then upheld by the Court of Cassation.
