A great piece of news celebrating the special occasion of Italy’s iconic scooter, Vespa, which recently turned 80, took social media by storm and has now become viral news all over the world (“Thousands ride through Rome as Italy’s iconic scooter Vespa turns 80,” June29, Gulf Today website).
According to the report, more than 10,000 Vespas putt-putt-putted around the Colosseum and past the Roman Forum on Saturday, marking the 80th anniversary of the iconic scooter.
Vespa still holds a special place in people’s hearts, even as it celebrates its 80th anniversary. I know a person among my close relatives who owned a Vespa scooter until the end of his life.
The way he cherished his Vespa is beyond words. Throughout his life, he never allowed anyone else to ride it because he said, “It’s the only thing that holds a special place in my heart, and I don’t want anyone to misuse it.”
I remember how carefully he used his Vespa while going to the office, and when he came back from work, he made sure that it remained in the shade until the next morning.
I am sure people who own a Vespa scooter must be feeling special on the occasion of its 80th anniversary.
