Bollywood superstar Kangana Ranaut congratulated Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the youngest player to be selected for the Indian men’s cricket team.
During an exclusive interaction with IANS, when Kangana was asked about Vaibhav joining the Indian cricket team at such a young age, she said that she hopes he performs even better than legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli and goes on to bring the World Cup home for the country.
She also recited a famous Gazal, saying, “Na umar ki seema ho, na janm ka ho bandhan…Jab pyaar kare koi, to dekhe keval man… Nayi reet chalaakar tum, ye reet amar kar do.”
When asked if she has watched the young cricketer in action, the ‘Queen’ actress shared that due to the nature of her work, she does not get time to watch cricket.
“Not to discourage a very bright young kid. We wish him the best,” said Kangana.
“We want him to perform better than Sachin or Virat, for our country. I mean, not to put any pressure on him, but please bring the World Cup or something. It will be really good,” she concluded.
Cementing his name in history, Vaibhav has broken the record of Sachin Tendulkar, becoming India’s youngest-ever international cricket debutant.
For the unaware, Tendulkar was called up to the Indian squad for the first time against Pakistan in 1989, when he was 16 years old. On the other hand, Vaibhav has received his first call-up to the Indian team at just 15 years old. This marks India’s youngest-ever call-up in the history of international cricket.
Shifting our focus back to Kangana, she will next be seen leading the drama, “Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata”, which is an attempt to shed light on the courage of our healthcare workers during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
“These nurses and ward boys did not see themselves as heroes; they simply believed that their duty was bigger than their fear. That belief saved lives. And that’s the essence of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata,” the ‘Queen’ actress had said, talking about her next.
Backed by PEN Studios, Manikarnika Films, and Paramhans Creations, along with Eunoia Films LLP and Floating Rocks Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, “Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata” is expected to reach the cinema halls on June 12 this year.
