Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court rejected a lawsuit filed by a doctor demanding Dhs300,000 in material and moral compensation from a hotel management, in addition to fees, expenses, and attorney’s fees.
The plaintiff said he was a guest at the hotel and, while entering the restaurant, fell due to a dirty floor. The court found that his statements were unsubstantiated.
He added that he worked as a surgeon in a hospital within the UAE, and that while he was at the hotel to attend an evening medical seminar, he fell inside the restaurant due to a dirty floor, negligence, failure to provide safety and prevention conditions, and failure to place warning signs.
This error resulted in suffering a severe muscle tear accompanied by bleeding, which required urgent treatment and resulted in severe physical and psychological damage, he clarified.
He added that he was also unable to perform his work due to his inability to stand, and he was also unable to exercise for three months, forcing him to receive injections and painkillers.
The plaintiff added that the hotel did not deny the incident and the resulting responsibility, and that its management, in turn, responded by sending him an email with a two-person dinner invitation, which reflected a failure to properly assume responsibility.
