Emirates Airlines has urged passengers departing from Dubai during the Eid Al Adha holiday to head early to Dubai International Airport, amid expectations of high travel volumes during the holiday period.

In an update on its website, the carrier recommended that passengers arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flight and be at the boarding gates 60 minutes before departure.

The carrier noted that security, passport control and gate access procedures might take longer than usual during peak hours. It also advised using Dubai Metro to reach the airport to avoid traffic congestion and encouraged passengers to take advantage of the multiple check-in options available to streamline and expedite their journeys.

Available options

The available options included completing travel procedures via the Emirates website or app, pre-selecting seats, finalizing procedures and dropping off baggage 24 hours before the flight or 12 hours before for flights to the US.

The airline indicated that express self-service kiosks were available for check-in and baggage drop-off, and so were the airline’s check-in centres with the exception of flights to the US.

Emirates Skywards members can register for biometric services via the app to utilize facial recognition technology at the airport while the home check-in service allows staff to go directly to the passenger’s location, it added, noting that this service is offered free of charge to First Class passengers and Skywards Platinum members.

The carrier affirmed that passengers traveling to the US or who booked special assistance services must complete their travel procedures in person at the airport.

First Class Lounge upgrades

The carrier announced the continuation of upgrades to its First Class Lounge in Concourse C, urging guests to use the First Class Lounge in Concourse B during the temporary closure.

It also urged passengers to ensure their contact information was up-to-date via the Manage Booking service to receive the latest updates regarding their flights.
