Dubai’s Salik to apply 5 per cent VAT on toll charges from June 1

Salik announced in a post on its Instagram account that, effective from June 1, 2026, a 5 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) will be applied to toll gate usage charges as well as Salik tag activation fees. The company stated that the VAT amounts collected will be remitted to the UAE’s Federal Tax Authority in accordance with the laws and regulations in force across the country.

The move means motorists using Salik toll gates in Dubai will see a slight increase in the total amount charged per trip, as the existing toll tariff will now include the additional VAT component. The tax will also apply to fees related to activating new Salik tags for vehicles.

Salik clarified that the implementation is part of compliance with the UAE’s tax regulations and federal financial policies. Drivers and vehicle owners are advised to review the updated charges ahead of the new policy taking effect in June. The announcement was made through Salik’s official social media platforms to inform customers and ensure transparency regarding the revised fee structure.
