Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court ordered a company to pay Dhs30,000 in compensation to a man for failing to fulfill its professional obligations by neglecting to perform regular maintenance on the elevator and ensuring its functionality and usability.
The company’s negligence resulted in the elevator door closing on the man, causing him permanent disability at 10 per cent of his digestive system function.
Earlier, a man filed a lawsuit against a company in which he requested the court to obligate it to pay him Dhs350,000 in compensation for all material, physical and moral harms plus a late payment interest at five per cent from the date the judgment became final until full payment. He also requested the court to obligate the company to pay the incurred charges, expenses and lawyer’s fees.
The plaintiff pleaded that the company caused him injuries as a result of its breach of the principles of its profession and job.
As a result, a criminal case was filed and a judgment was issued against the company for causing material and moral harms to the plaintiff, which prompted him to file this lawsuit to obtain a judgment in his favour.
