A traffic fine issued against a vehicle revealed that it had been stolen and moved from where it was to another site to be sold as scrap metal.
Sharjah Police managed to identify the perpetrator and referred him to the courts of law. Sharjah Misdemeanor Court heard a case where one’s vehicle was stolen.
The plaintiff stated that while he was outside the country, he asked his son to check on the vehicle and start it from time to time, but the latter forgot its key inside it on one occasion, which made it easy for the thief to move it to another site.
The plaintiff explained that he only became aware of the theft after receiving an SMS informing him of a traffic violation issued against the vehicle’s plate number.
He asked his son to check on the matter, but when his son could not find the vehicle, he reported the incident to the police.
Following intensive search and investigation, the competent authorities managed to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
When faced before the court, the perpetrator denied the charge of theft, alleging that he saw the vehicle key inside it and thought that it did not belong to anyone, which prompted him to move it to his residence with the intention of selling it as scrap.
After reviewing the details of the case, the court ordered the session to be postponed for the plaintiff to be notified accordingly.
