UAE Open Muay Thai Championship ends on high note in Abu Dhabi

The competitions of the UAE Open Muay Thai Championship concluded with remarkable success.

The event was organized by the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation over three days at Mubadala Dome, Al Jazira Club in Abu Dhabi, featuring the participation of 599 male and female players representing 75 clubs and academies, who competed across 86 weight categories under the supervision of 38 referees.

The championship came within the agenda of the Federation’s competitions aimed at developing the sport of Muay Thai, and providing organized competitive platforms that offer male and female players important opportunities to gain experience, raise the level of technical and physical readiness, and enhance interaction between various clubs and academies at the country level.

Over the days of the championship, the competitions witnessed strong technical levels characterized by rivalry and enthusiasm.

The participants delivered an outstanding performance that reflected the high level of preparation and the development of the players’ capabilities across various age groups and weight categories, amidst an audience presence and excellent interaction that added great momentum to the championship’s atmosphere.

The competitions of the final day were attended by Abdullah Saeed Al Neyadi, Vice President of the International Muay Thai Federation, President of the Asian and Arab Federations, and President of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, alongside Bolbongse Vangphaen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the country. His Excellency participated in crowning the winning champions at the conclusion of the competitions. His Excellency Abdullah Saeed Al Neyadi also took a tour of the championship corridors, during which he looked at its organizational and competitive atmosphere, and the wide participation it witnessed from clubs and academies.

The final day also witnessed the presence of Yasser Salem Al Saadi, Vice President of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, Ali Khouri, Board Member of the Federation, and Fahad Al Abdouli, Director of the Sports Activities Department at the Federation, alongside Nasser Al Marri and Ahmed Al Masabi, representatives of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

The general standings results of the championship resulted in Abu Dhabi Muay Thai Team taking the lead with a total of 41 diverse medals, comprising 24 gold, 10 silver, and 7 bronze. Tiger Kickboxing Team came in second place with 34 medals, comprising 15 gold, 14 silver, and 5 bronze. The Force Sports Team placed third with 12 medals, comprising 5 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze.

A number of clubs and academies also recorded a distinguished competitive presence within the medal table, including Gulf Martial Arts, High Score Sport, ADMA Academy, Universe Fitness, and Tiger Martial Arts, reflecting the expansion of the competition base and the diversity of player preparation centers in the country.

Neyadi confirmed that the UAE Open Muay Thai Championship provided important positive indicators at the levels of participation, organization, and technical performance. He pointed out that the championship reflects the scale of development being witnessed by the sport of Muay Thai in the United Arab Emirates, and the strength of the growing presence of the game among various categories.

He said: “We take pride in the organizational and technical successes achieved by the UAE Open Muay Thai Championship, and the wide participation it witnessed from male and female players, clubs, and academies. This confirms the strength of the competitive base for Muay Thai in the country, and the success of the Federation’s plans to provide an organized sports environment that supports the development of players and refines their capabilities.”

He added: “The levels presented by the champions during the competitions reflect the great efforts exerted by clubs and academies. It also confirms the importance of local championships in preparing talent and granting them real interaction opportunities, which contributes to building a generation capable of representing UAE sports honorably in various events.”
