Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the drone attack on the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the UAE, calling for restraint and respect for international law amid rising regional tensions.
In a message posted on social media platform X, the prime minister said Pakistan stands in full solidarity with the leadership and the brotherly people of the UAE.
Shahbaz said Pakistan strongly condemns the drone attack on the UAE’s Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant. He said Pakistan expresses complete solidarity with the leadership and people of the United Arab Emirates in the wake of the attack.
The prime minister urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and fulfill their responsibilities under international law. He stressed that all sides must act responsibly to prevent further escalation in the region.
He said dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path toward lasting regional peace, stability and de-escalation. His statement comes as Pakistan continues to call for peaceful resolution of regional disputes through diplomatic engagement.
Earlier on Monday, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) spokesperson also said Pakistan strongly condemned the drone attack near the Barakah nuclear facility in the United Arab Emirates and stood in solidarity with the government and people of the brotherly country.
The FO spokesperson said that the deliberate targeting of nuclear installations constituted a serious breach of international law and such facilities must never be targeted under any circumstances. He warned that such irresponsible actions could prove disastrous for global peace and the environment.
The spokesperson said that the sanctity of civilian nuclear infrastructure was a recognised international principle and called upon all parties to exercise maximum restraint and reduce tensions.
“Dialogue and diplomacy remained the only path towards lasting peace and stability in the region,” said the FO spokesperson.
Abu Dhabi authorities have said that a fire broke out in an electric generator outside the inner security perimeter of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the Al Dhafra region following a drone strike on Sunday.
