The marine rescue teams of Sharjah Civil Defence Authority (SCDA) managed to rescue a driver whose vehicle fell into Sharjah Creek opposite Sharjah Courts on Thursday morning during a rapid field response that demonstrated the readiness of the teams and their high efficiency in dealing with emergencies.

The marine rescue team spotted the incident at 7:04am while carrying out the morning security patrol, as the vehicle was seen plunging into the water, prompting the specialised teams to rush to the site in a race against time to rescue the driver.

The rescuers were able to dive in, reach the driver and get him out of the vehicle in less than eight minutes in an operation that reflected the level of professionalism and field readiness of the marine rescue teams in SCDA and the speed with which they deal with accidents that require urgent intervention.

Rapid response and continuous training of field personnel are essential elements in strengthening the safety system and protecting lives, SCDA added, noting that such operations are a result of ongoing training and raising readiness levels to deal with various reports and emergencies.

The driver was handed over to the National Ambulance at the scene of the accident, and his health condition was described as good, after receiving the necessary care.

This incident reflected the vital role played by SCDA’s marine rescue teams and their constant commitment to quickly reaching accident sites and responding immediately to emergencies to protect lives and property and enhance community safety.
