Russian President Vladimir Putin has drawn widespread attention after a heartwarming reunion with his former German language teacher, Vera Dmitriyevna Gurevich, in Moscow this week.
In a video shared online and later circulated by the Kremlin, Putin is seen personally greeting his 88-year-old former teacher with a bouquet of flowers before warmly embracing her during a special evening gathering.
The footage shows the Russian leader escorting her to a dinner at the presidential residence following Victory Day commemorations.
According to the post shared on X, Russian state television also broadcast scenes of Putin driving himself through central Moscow in a Russian-made Aurus SUV to pick up Gurevich and bring her to the event. The reunion was reportedly part of an invitation extended to his former teacher to attend this year’s Victory Day Parade.
The emotional moment, highlighting Putin’s long-standing personal ties with his former educator, quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread reactions for its human and nostalgic tone.
A cultural program was specially organized for her. As presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov previously reported, she visited the Shilov Gallery and several other excursions.
