Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court ordered a woman to pay Dhs15,000 in compensation to another woman, after she insulted her via WhatsApp and also published her photos on “TikTok”.
The victim filed a lawsuit against the woman, requesting that she be ordered to pay her Dhs45,000 as compensation for the material and moral damages she incurred, along with legal interest at 9% annually from the date of the judicial claim until full payment, and to bear the fees, expenses, and attorney’s fees.
The complainant stated that she filed a criminal case against the woman, in which a judgment was issued in absentia convicting her and punishing her for her crime with three months imprisonment and deportation from the country, and punishing her for the second crime with three months imprisonment and depriving her from using the information network for six months. The Court of Appeal upheld the judgment which became final.
The court clarified that the error of the defendant caused moral damages to the complainant, and therefore ordered the defendant to compensate the plaintiff with Dhs15,000 for the moral damages she incurred.
