UAE end campaign with 10 medals at 21st Arab U20 Athletic…

The UAE national athletics team concluded their participation in the 21st Arab Youth Championships (Under-20) in Tunisia, with a total of 10 medals including five gold, one silver, and four bronze, in addition to several record-breaking performances.

The final day witnessed the winning of four gold medals. It began with Salma Al-Marri in the hammer throw event, achieving 52.58 meters. Sprinter Abdulqadus Ali won the gold in the 200 meters with a time of 20.74 seconds, after having already shined earlier in the championship by winning the 100 meters in 10.59 seconds, breaking the UAE youth record that had stood for 21 years.

The youth team also secured gold in the 4×100 meters relay with a time of 41.65 seconds, thanks to the quartet of Abdulqadus Ali, Abdullah Mashhoud, Saeed Omar, and Mohammed Al-Masabi. Meanwhile, the girls’ team won gold in the 4×100 meters relay with a time of 46.65 seconds, with the participation of Laila Ahmed, Arwa Ali, Azza Nasser, and Aisha Tarek.

Regarding the other medals, Arwa Ali won silver in the women’s 100 meters, Abdullah Mashhoud won bronze in the men’s 100 meters, Sara Fahd won bronze in the women’s 100 meters, Yazia Tarek earned bronze in the javelin throw, and Azza Nasser won bronze in the women’s 200 meters.

The championship also witnessed a technical achievement by athlete Mohammed Adel Al-Ali, who broke the national record in the hammer throw with a distance of 61.47 meters. Saeed Omar qualified for the finals of both the 200 meters and 400 meters, Mohammed Al-Masabi contributed to the relay gold, Nasser Al-Kaabi delivered a strong performance in the 800 meters, in addition to notable performances from the female athletes.

Ali Ghazwan, manager of the national team, stated that the athletes delivered strong competitive performances and, despite their young age, demonstrated promising potential for the future.
