
Al Nasr set a date with Sharjah, while Shabab Al Ahli will face Al Dhaid on Friday in the semi-finals of the UAE Men’s Handball Cup, following a competitive round of preliminary fixtures.
Al Dhaid produced a solid performance to defeat Al Wasl 30–23, while Al Nasr booked their place in the last four with a convincing 34–23 victory over Maleha.
Shabab Al Ahli also advanced in style, overcoming Dibba Al Hisn 34–25.
The matches highlighted strong attacking displays and disciplined team performances, setting the stage for an exciting knockout phase as the competition intensifies.
The matches were officiated by international referee Omar Al Marzouqi, assisted by referee Yaqoub Jassim, with Nawal Mubarak as the scorer. The timekeeper was Yaqoot Khater, and the game was supervised by continental referee Mohammed Nasser.
The match was broadcasted on Sharjah Sports TV and took place at the Maleha Club Hall.
International, Olympic, and world-level referee Omar Al Marzouqi began his playing career with Al Nasr Club from 1984 to 1998 before transitioning into officiating.
He earned his continental badge in Muscat in 2000 and his international badge in Kuwait in 2003. He was honored with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award and the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Sports Excellence Award after officiating the 2011 World Championship final between Germany and Denmark in Greece—breaking the long-standing European monopoly on refereeing handball world finals since the founding of the International Handball Federation. This achievement cemented his name in gold in the history of the sport.
