US Vice President JD Vance expects positive Iran talks ahead of Islamabad negotiations

US Vice President JD Vance said on Friday he expects upcoming negotiations with Iran in Islamabad to be positive, as he departed Washington for Pakistan.

We’re looking forward to the negotiation. I think it’s going to be positive,” Vance told reporters.

He said the US is open to engaging in good faith, adding, “If the Iranians are willing to negotiate in good faith, we’re certainly willing to extend the open hand.”

Vance, however, warned that Washington would not respond favourably if Tehran fails to engage seriously, stating that if Iran attempts to “play us,” the negotiating team “is not that receptive.”
